Subgovernor of Padcaya laments the decision of Tarija cattle ranchers and considers their measures of pressure «inequitable»
Today, the Subgovernor of Padcaya, Mayor Mario Montero, expressed his regret for the roadblock actions by cattle ranchers in Tarija, considering them «unjust».
The demonstrators made a protest in front of the Subprefectura of Padcaya, demanding better access to pastures and a price rate for cattle to secure their economic stability.
Subgovernor concerned
In a statement to the press, Mayor Montero expressed his concern for the situation faced by the cattle ranchers of Tarija, but rejected the unilateral way of demonstrating against their problems.
For Mr. Montero, the pressure placed on local government, blocking main roads, is an «inequitable» measure, considering that it affects the entire population.
Mayor calls for dialogue
As a way to solve the problem, Mayor Montero called for dialogue between cattle ranchers and the local government, to reach an agreement beneficial to everyone.
The mayor also assured his support to the Tarija ranchers by offering:
- Legal coverage to ensure all the rights and operations of cattle farmers.
- Advice in the negotiation of agreements with the government.
- Collaboration in the development of economic and social support initiatives.
The mayor concluded that, despite the inconveniences of the roadblock, he will continue to work for the benefit of all the inhabitants of Padcaya and defend the rights of Tarija cattle ranchers.
