The Spectacular Cosmic Show
Starting from April 6th to April 14th, a unique display will be seen in the sky to delight the eyes of astronomy-lovers around the world. A planetary alignment of five planets – Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Mercury and Venus – will be seen in the sky, making it an extraordinary viewing experience.
What to expect
It is said that the five planets of this alignment – Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Mercury and Venus – will form an arc of approximately fourteen degrees that in the western sky will look like a line drawn with a pencil the first days of April. Since they can be easily seen with the naked eye and without the need of any special equipment, this will make it a special and very visible spectacle.
In order to make sure of the correct viewing and spotting of the planets it is recomended to get a good viewing spot, away from light pollution, a telescope or binoculars and an astronomy chart or smartphone app. After making sure these conditions are met, it will be much easier to observe with their own eyes this unique arrangement of planets that won’t be seen again for years.
More possibility
Apart from this wonderful alignment of planets, the sky will bring more surprises during the next weeks, thanks to the several conjunctions and meteor showers that will be happening. It won’t be difficult to see the Moon during most of the nights, and Jupiter, Saturn and Mars will create a charming triangle configuration which will start to be noticed in the first days of April. This triangular pattern will remain in the sky for a long time and it will be even visible without binoculars or telescopes.
